Concept project. Ostra is not a real hotel. Rooms, prices and reviews are sample content.
The brief I set myself
A small independent hotel should feel as calm online as the place itself, and still lead every visitor to one action: checking availability.
The site also had to be easy for hotel staff to run, with rooms, prices and photos they can change without a developer.
What I did
Booking bar on the first screen
Dates and guests sit in the hero, so a returning visitor can check availability without scrolling.
Rooms the hotel can edit
Each room is a WordPress post with a friendly details box: price, guests, size, amenities with an icon picker, and a drag-to-reorder gallery. No raw custom fields.
Sharp photos, light pages
Photos are served as WebP, with sizes worked out for cropped images, so phones get sharp photos without downloading desktop files.
One render-blocking file
Theme CSS the templates don't use is removed, the icon font is cut from 155 KB to 5 KB, and the small CSS left is inlined.
